A little about me:

I’m Lauren a trans woman and cinephile.  After a lifetime in the Midwest, I finally made it to a coast in Seattle, but my heart belongs in LA even if I haven’t made it there yet.  My day job as of yet does not involve my passion for film as a degree in mathematics pushed me elsewhere, but a girl can dream.

About my love of film:

My love for good film didn’t start until later as it was never a large part of my life growing up.  However, in high school I became enamored with horror films, and after making my way through a lot of awful schlock stumbled upon Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 rendition of The Shining which is one of my favorites to this day.  Awoken to the idea of quality in film making, I consumed as many classics as I could, starting with English first then proceeding to Foreign.  College lead me to St. Louis where I, for the first time, had access to independent theaters and found that the artistic quality in these smaller films.  Supplemented by the Criterion Collection, these films became a staple in my life, and helped with my transplant across the country to Seattle.  In the past few years, I managed to stumble into the ever growing feminist movement in film, and it’s resonated with my soul.
